Semi-truck rollover causes fuel spill and road closures near Echo Junction

Local News

ECHO JUNCTION, Utah (ABC4 News) – Multiple lanes were closed near Echo Junction at Interstate 80 at Mile marker 168 after a semi-truck rollover.

The rollover happened at 1:25 p.m. according to Utah Highway Patrol when a Saturn Freight semi-truck and box trailer was traveling eastbound on I-80 approaching Echo Junction.

The driver of the truck reportedly failed to negotiate the curve in the road and overturned onto the driver side blocking most of I-80 eastbound.

The man who was driving the semi-truck was transported to the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden and according to UHP troopers suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Some diesel fuel spilled on the pavement from the truck’s saddle tanks but it was not hauling hazardous materials, according to UHP.

The crash forced the closure of the on-ramp form I-84 eastbound to I-80 eastbound, but all lanes have since reopened.
