WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) – An adult male in his 40s is dead today after his Hyundai Veloster collided into a semi truck that was going northbound on Bangerter Highway near 2100 north just before 2 am on Sunday morning.

Both vehicles were traveling northbound on Bangerter Highway when the driver of the Hyundai came from behind the semi and rammed into it.

The driver of the car died at the scene and had to be extracted from the car. Police say the victim is a white male in his 40s.

Police don’t know if alcohol was a factor in the death of the man.

The semi truck driver didn’t sustain any injuries and his truck is expected to be OK.

Police say they most likely won’t press charges because the collision appears to be the car driver’s fault.

This is a developing story — we’ll bring you more details as they are made available.
