UINTA COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 News) – North Summit Fire crews responded to fully-engulfed semi fire after reported equipment failure Monday morning.

A semi cab with a 53-foot box trailer was traveling westbound on I-80 in the area of milepost 185 when the driver noticed smoke coming from beneath the cab.

Sgt. Nick Street with the Utah Highway Patrol says the driver said he was also experiencing some equipment failure, so he pulled to the shoulder.

As he pulled over the cab and trailer quickly became engulfed in flames. Street says the trailer contained cosmetics and lotions.

Westbound I-80 was temporarily shut down but has since reopened.
