See smoke? There’s a controlled burn in Box Elder Co.

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 News) –  A prescribed fire on the Willard Spur Wildlife Management Area is expected to cause highly visibility smoke from Brigham City to the Wasatch Front throughout Wednesday. 

The Utah Division of Forestry, Fire, and Stand Lands says these controlled burns work to reduce invasive species and the improve wildlife habitat in the area. DFFSL works in conjunction with the Department of Wildlife Resources to manages these burns. 

According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, prescribed burning can emulate the ecological role function, and effects of past fires to reduce hazardous conditions, maintain, and restore natural ecosystems.
