SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- The Salt Lake City Police Department says there are scammers using the names of Salt Lake City police officers to sway people out of money.
The department says they have received two reports of callers posing as the officers and seeking money in return for help with IRS issues.
The scammers have reportedly found the names of actual SLCPD officers from the department’s website and news reports. They even give the number of the Salt Lake City Police Department as their callback.
If you receive any calls like this call your local law enforcement.
SLCPD reminds you to never pay in advance for services and never send money or give out personal information.
