Sandy mom charged with murder in death of son

SANDY, Utah (ABC4 News)- A Sandy mother has been charged for the murder of her 7-year-old son.

Court records state police and fire responded to a home on Manzano Drive on Feb. 25th after 31-year-old Reyna Elizabeth Flores-Rosales called to report she found her 7-year-old son unresponsive on the floor of the shower.

When emergency officials arrived, the boy was lying on the living room floor not breathing and had a faint pulse, documents state.

Two days later the boy was declared brain dead.

Charging document state child had burns in and around his buttocks as well as several old scars, bruises, and swelling on his head, neck, hands, and feet.

Records describe several other wounds including healing fractures on his right rib and left scapula as well as bleeding on the brain.

On March 2nd, the medical examiner declared the boy’s cause of death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.

Flores-Rosales was charged Thursday with one count of criminal homicide (aggravated murder) and aggravated sexual abuse of a child, and two counts of child abuse.
