Sandy man dies after weekend motorcycle crash

UPDATE: South Salt Lake Police Department has confirmed that the motorcyclist involved in the crash that occurred on Saturday, June 16, 2018, has died as a result of his crash injuries.

Police have identified as 23-year-old Marcos Villagrana, a Sandy, UT resident. Marcos Villagrana was pronounced dead at 8:38 A.M. on June 19, 2018.


SOUTH SALT LAKE, UTAH (News4Utah) – One person was transported to the hospital in critical condition on Saturday afternoon after a motorcycle accident officials say. 

A Toyota SUV was traveling Northbound on State St. and made a U-Turn to Southbound State St. The Motorcycle was traveling Southbound and hit the rear of the Toyota SUV.

A male 23-year-old motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to a local hospital via ambulance in critical condition. The motorcyclist’s Injuries are considered life-threatening.

The 49-year-old male driver of the Toyota SUV was not injured during the crash.

The crash occurred around 11:40 am near 3750 South State St. 

The crash is still an active and ongoing investigation.
