SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah)- After a chase, some tear gas, and the help of a K9, a 24-year-old man is sitting in Salt Lake County Jail.

Police say it started when Jordan Kent and an accomplice carjacked a cab at knifepoint just before midnight Wednesday. The cab driver called police and a chase ensued near 1500 South State Street.

Using the tracking device in the cab, police were able to finally stop the suspects at about 650 East and 400 South. Officers say Kent and his accomplice refused to come out of the car so they used tear gas to force them out. A K9 was also deployed.

Kent was booked for aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, failure to stop, interfering with an officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
