Salt Lake County Mayor calls for resignation of County Recorder

Local News

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- Wednesday morning on Twitter Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams said it was time for the County Recorder to resign.

There have been complaints about Gary Ott for months now. He has been accused of having poor health that is impacting his job performance.

In March of 2016 Good4Utah’s Randall Carlisle sat down with Ott on the accusations that he has dementia.

Ott was found in January of 2016 wandering in a remote area near Grantsville. He had run out gas in below freezing temperatures and waited for help for 15 hours. Police say Ott was “completely unaware of anything” and “wasn’t making any sense”.

Ott told Carlisle in March it was a reaction anybody would have.

Wednesday afternoon McAdams will be talking with the media about his call for Ott to resign.

This is a developing story. Updates will be posted as they become available.
