In a press release issued by the Salt Lake City Police Department, they said the ceremony was held to recognize the history of the department and the dedication of the officers who have served the city.

Officers who were previously assigned to the airport were pinned with their new Salt Lake City Police badges.

A shadow box containing memorabilia was also on display.

The event was attended by Mayor Jackie Biskupski, Airport Bureau Deputy Chief Craig Vargo and SLCPD Chief Mike Brown.
