SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) — The Salt Lake City Council chose Analia Valdemoros to replace Derek Kitchen on the council. Kitchen was elected in November to represent District 2 in the Utah State Senate.

The candidate pool started off with 18 people and Valdemoros was unanimously chosen to fill the vacant seat.

Valdemoros was sworn in by the city recorder at Tuesday evening’s council meeting. She will fill the remainder of the current term which lasts through 2019.

“I’m thrilled to continue to serve our City, previously as a city planner, currently as a business owner, and now as a City Councilwoman.” Councilwoman Valdemoros said.
