SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) A Real Salt Lake player is accused of sexual activity with a teenage girl.
Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office has charged Ricardo Velazco, 24, with unlawful sexual activity with a minor due to an alleged incident that occurred on May 20.
According to the probable cause statement, charges were filed based on the statement of a 15-year-old girl. Documents state the girl told Draper police she had sexual intercourse with Velazco who at the time was 23 years old.

The DA’s office requested a warrant to ensure Velazco appears in court.
Velazco signed with Real Salt Lake in September 2016 after two seasons with the Real Monarchs.
Major League Soccer released the following statement after charges were filed.
“Major League Soccer has suspended Mr. Velazco from all soccer-related activity.  MLS and Real Salt Lake will cooperate fully with the authorities and the League will also conduct its own investigation as more information becomes available.”
Real Salt Lake says it plans to “await the outcome of judicial proceeding prior to taking additional action.” The team offered no further comment on the case.
