DUCHESNE, Utah (News4Utah) – A Roosevelt man died in an industrial accident Tuesday.
Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office said part of a workover rig fell on him at an oilfield location in the Hancock Cove area of Duchesne County.
Emergency crews were called to a rig near 750 North and 3000 West around 8 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they learned crews from an oilfield service company were working to move a heavy, metal floor from one rig to another. During the move, a section of the floor fell on Andrew Romero.
Romero, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The sheriff’s office and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration are investigating.
