Report shows crime stats going down in Ogden

Local News

The Ogden Police Department released new data showing that their crime stats have gone down over the years.

The department announced a 19.7 percent decrease in part one of their crime stats for 2018.

Utah U.S. Attorney John Huber says this comes after a double-digit increase in the last few years in the city, but says there is plenty of work ahead.

“About 55 pounds of very dangerous drugs, the vast majority being methamphetamine,” Huber said. “It’s hard to prove a negative, but I am confident in saying the seizure of those drugs saved lives.”

Huber also mentioned on Wednesday that he is very confident those drugs came across the border from Mexico, but he is confident that law enforcement will turn back violent crime in Ogden.
