The tax deadline is fast approaching and some Americans are hit harder than others.
The personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on 2019’s Best States to Be Rich or Poor from a Tax Perspective. Their report found Utah was one of the top five best states to earn a low income.
When it comes to being rich, Alaska was the number one state. The worst state for being rich from a tax perspective? New York.
On the other end of the spectrum, the worst state to be poor from a tax perspective was Washington.
Utah was 4th for low-income earners, 8th for middle-income earners and 19th for high-income earners. Overall, not bad.
WalletHub calculated the share of one’s income that he or she contributes toward sales and excise taxes, property taxes and income taxes.
