Rep. Chaffetz submits official letter of resignation

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- About two months ago Representative Jason Chaffetz announced he will not be seeking re-election.

Chaffetz said life in Washington was wearing on him and he that he has decided to return to the private sector.

Friday the congressman officially sent in his letter of resignation to Speaker Paul Ryan.

Chaffetz says in the letter his resignation is effective starting at 10 a.m. Eastern time on June 30th.
