SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – As the Spring season approaches and as major flooding has impacted large portions of the American midwest, the Red Cross of Utah is reminding Utahns to be prepared for flooding in the spring and summer months.

A Flood Watch means a flood/flash flood is possible in your area while a flood/flash warning means flood warning means flooding has occurred or will occur imminently… The ABC4 Pinpoint Weather team keeps track of the latest watches and warnings on our newscasts and posts them on our website as the National Weather Services releases them.

Some other tips from the Red Cross include:

  • Having extra clean water for drinking
  • Filling the tub for extra water for cleaning
  • Filling your car tank
  • Bringing in all outdoor belongings
  • Turning off Propane Tanks

You are also reminded to keep your emergency kit nearby and ready.
