The West Valley City Police Department is investigating the incident bu the group “Utah Against Police Brutality” and the Rose Park Brown Berets claim Belgard was shot while fleeing. At the rally, his sister said the information she gets from police backs that up.

“They told me there was an altercation between him and the police officer but my brother only has bullet holes in his back,” said Sena Belgard, Cody’s sister. “He has two shots to the back. He was found laying face down.”
