Preparations underway in Orem for funeral of Officer Joseph Shinners

OREM, Utah (ABC4 News) – Preparations are underway as Utah plans to say good-bye to Provo Police Officer Joe Shinners Saturday.

Shinners, 29, ​​​​​​a 3-year veteran of Provo Police Department, was shot and killed in the line of duty on Jan 5 while working with Orem police officers and attempting to arrest a fugitive.

He leaves behind a wife and 1-year-old son.

The life of Joseph Shinners will be celebrated at funeral services Saturday, January 12 at 11 a.m. at the Utah Valley University UCCU Center located at 800 West University Parkway. 

Following the services, a procession with guide Shinners to his final resting place at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
