SANDY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – A possible homicide investigation is underway in Sandy after a man was found dead in front of a home, police say.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. at 1330 East and 8085 South*.
Sandy police tell ABC4 News that a woman who lives in the home called police after she found her 44-year-old friend’s body on the front lawn. Neighbors tell us first responders tried to save the man later identified as Michael Hoffman Jr. of Salt Lake City, but were unsuccessful.
Investigators searched inside the home for evidence after a search warrant was served. Sgt. Jason Nielsen with the Sandy Police Department told ABC4’s Brittany Johnson that police are also talking to the man who called police so they can put together a timeline of events.
“We’ll gather everything we need. Obviously the medical examiner is the one who will determine the cause of death and we go from there with everything we’ve gathered,” he said.
According to Sgt. Nielsen, the people who live in the home moved in Sunday. Police say people living in the area are not in danger.
