Police: Woman reports she was raped by car salesman she met at a local dealership

VINEYARD, Utah (ABC4 News) – A Vineyard man has been booked into jail after a woman reported she had been raped by a car salesman she met while at a dealership.

According to arresting documents, 22-year-old Christopher Stamper was booked into the Utah County Jail on one count first-degree felony rape Thursday morning. 

A woman told police Stamper was her salesman at a local car dealership and the two of them went for a ride in a Jeep Wednesday night. After the jeep ride, the two went to Stamper’s home in Vineyard. documents state. 

According to the documents, the woman said while at his home, Stamper took her into his bedroom, locked the door and undressed while asking her to take her clothes off. The woman said she told Stamper no and to stop but he took her clothes off and made her lay on the bed, face down.  

She said Stamper then raped her as she continued to tell him no and to stop. Stamper then told her he wanted her to spend the night, according to documents.

The woman told Stamper she needed to go and wanted her wallet out of his car. While getting her wallet, she called a friend for a ride. She then went to the hospital where police were called about the incident, documents state.  

The police report indicated Stamper’s roommate, who was at the home at the time of the incident, corroborated her story about the two being together and in his room.

When police attempted to interview Stamper, he refused to talk to them and requested a lawyer.

A background check for Stamper did not show any criminal history in Utah.
