Police: Woman assaulted at Bountiful cemetery

BOUNTIFUL, Utah (News4Utah) –Bountiful City Police Department have released information to the public in hopes that it will garner leads on a recent assault.

On Friday, April 27 around 10:20 p.m. Bountiful police responded to a report of a woman screaming for help at Lakeview Cemetery near the sidewalk of Bountiful Boulevard.

When officers arrived, police said a 33-year-old woman reported she was assaulted by an unknown man while walking in the cemetery.

She told officers the man asked her for money, assaulted her and then took off and ran west after the assault. Police said two nearby witnesses heard the assault but did not see the suspect.

Police brought out K9 officers and searched the area, but he was not found. Police say the woman had multiple minor injuries that were consistent with an assault. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.

Police ask that anyone who may have had contact with the suspect that night, to contact them, so they can continue the investigation.
