Police: West Valley officer’s patrol car t-boned by driver who ran red light

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 News)- A police officer with the West Valley City Police Department was injured in a crash Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Matt Johnson with the West Valley City Police Dept. said it happened around noon at 4100 South 400 West.

The officer was heading eastbound on 4100 South when Lt. Johnson said a driver blasted through a red light and t-boned the officer’s patrol car.

The impact caused the patrol car to spin and hit another vehicle, Lt. Johnson said.

The officer is expected to survive. Lt. Johnson said he had head and neck injuries.

The other drivers were not injured.
