WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Eight years after a 15-year-old reported being raped, police were able to arrest the man she originally told them was the suspect.
According to charging documents, a 15-year-old girl reported in October 2011 that Brandon Wade Dixon, who was 18 at the time, was driving her to school when he pulled over in a church parking lot and raped her after she refused his sexual advances.
Documents state no follow up was done by investigating officers to interview Wade about the incident.
7 years later, on December 6, 2018, another officer spoke with the victim again and was told once they pulled into the church parking lot Wade pulled down his pants and told her to come closer to him.
When the victim said no, he forcefully pulled her onto his lap and raped her, documents state.
The victim was able to pick Wade out of a photographic lineup.
In an interview with Wade, police said Wade told them he has only had sex with his girlfriend, who is not the victim, in a church parking lot or in his truck, documents state.
Wade denied ever having any sexual contact with the victim and a DNA sample was taken at that time.
On April 8, 2019, the DNA lab reports show Wade’s DNA matched the swabs taken during the sexual assault exam she submitted in 2011.
Dixon was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on one count first-degree felony rape.
A background check on Dixon shows multiple convictions of driving under the influence or impaired driving and other convictions of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, wanton destruction of protected wildlife and illegally taking, transporting, selling or purchasing of protected wildlife.
