Police: Man posing as Walmart employee stabs actual employee

WEST JORDAN (ABC4 News)- A  Walmart employee was stabbed early Thursday morning by a man who was posing as a fellow employee, police said.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. at Walmart in West Jordan located at 7671 South 3800 West.

According to the police report when officers responded they were told a man who did not work at the store was seen by other employees wearing a Walmart vest inside the store despite the fact that it was closed.

It is believed that man, 27-year-old Nicholas Nels McDonald, stabbed an employee in the lower neck area outside of the store.

McDonald took off in a vehicle when police arrived. Officers attempted to stop him with spikes twice. After about 15 minutes he was taken into custody.

Inside the truck McDonald was driving investigators found stolen beer and a knife. Officers say McDonald was driving on a suspended license and did not have insurance.

He was booked on several charges including aggravated assault, DUI, theft, and other charges related to the chase.

Investigators say the victim is expected to survive.
