Police: Man bites off chunk of another man’s ear after argument turns physical

Local News

NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man was arrested Tuesday after police say he bit off a chunk of another man’s ear during an argument.

Brian David Boyack was arrested on several charges including mayhem, criminal mischief, intoxication, and three counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child.

According to a probable cause statement, Boyack, the victim, and others were in a hot tub “having a good time” when a conversation started about big corporations and conspiracy theories.

The victim stated that he worked for a big banking business and Boyack, who had been drinking, took issue with that. An argument began and become extremely heated.

It eventually led to a physical altercation and that’s when police said Boyack bit off a large portion of the victim’s ear.

Boyack fled the scene after the altercation but eventually went to the police station to turn himself into officers.

The victim told police that doctors would not be able to re-attach the piece of ear and that he would need reconstruction surgery later.
