SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man was arrested in Salt Lake City Sunday after police said he was attempting to steal from a hotel and then assaulted the employee who tried to stop him.
Police said they were called to a report of a robbery in progress at the AC Hotel located at 225 West 200 South around 2:30 p.m.
Upon arrival officers found the suspect, 35-year-old Coleman Hofeling, had entered the hotel and attempted to take items from the gift shop.
Hofeling was approached by a hotel employee who asked him to return the items.
Hofeling threw the items at the employee then struck him repeatedly in the face. Other employees of the hotel jumped in to help detain the man until police arrived.
Hofeling was booked in to jail for robbery.
