Police: Man arrested for sodomy of 13-year-old boy for pinning him down, sexually assaulting him

Local News

PROVO, Utah (ABC4 News) – A Provo man has been arrested on charges of felony sodomy of a child after allegedly pinning a 13-year-old boy down and touching him inappropriately.

According to police, the incident happened on Wednesday about 11:30 p.m. when 31-year-old Adam Travis Peterson was at his own home and approached the boy who was inside a basement room.

The boy told police Peterson unzipped his pants and began sexually assaulting him without his consent. As the boy tried to flee the room, Peterson pinned the boy down in an attempt to continue touching him. The boy said Peterson told him he “would enjoy” the act.

The boy managed to escape Peterson’s grasp and run upstairs to tell his father what happened.

The boy’s father and two other adult family members confronted Peterson who was still in the basement. Peterson didn’t say one way or the other about committing the act but said he could not remember what had happened because he was intoxicated.

Family members had to physically restraint Peterson in the basement as he was making non-specific suicidal threats and attempted to leave.

Peterson was booked into the Utah County Jail on one count of first-degree felony sodomy on a child.
