CARBON COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A 32-year-old man was arrested Sunday after police said he threatened to kill people at a church in Carbon County.
According to arresting documents police were contact by the Pastor of the Liberty Faith Fellowship Church in Price on Sunday just before 11 a.m.
Documents state the Pastor told deputies he had received some very concerning Facebook audio recordings from Brenden Polito earlier that morning implying he was going to kill a bunch of people.
Deputies listened to the audio messages which were clearly from Polito’s Facebook account, documents state.
Deputies said four different people were named in the recordings and he implied he was going to kill two of them, according to documents.
The Pastor said Polito does go to their church but rarely attends service.
The Pastor told deputies he would have his assistant watch the door during his services from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Documents said deputies started their search for Polito and attempted to ping his cell phone while responding to several addresses in the Price and Carbonville area that he is known to frequent.
A deputy spotted Polito walking down the street and took him into custody.
During an interview with deputies, Polito implied the messages were song lyrics however, the messages never stated anything about music, documents state.
Polito was booked into the Carbon County Jail on on third-degree felony Terroristic Threats and a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
A record check of Polito shows he was convicted of misdeamor criminal mischeif in 2008, 2016 and 2017, disorderly conduct in 2013 and domestic violence assault in 2012.
