SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man is arrested after police say he and a sex worker robbed and kidnapped a man at gunpoint.
Police say on Wednesday they received a call from the victim who reported he had been robbed at gunpoint after meeting a woman on the street.
According to charging documents, the women took him back to her apartment near 2015 South 200 East after the victim offered to help her. Once they arrived at the apartment Alex Martinez was waiting with a gun pointed at him, documents state.
Arresting documents state the two robbed the victim at gunpoint taking his credit card, car keys, and cell phone. Police records state the woman left the apartment briefly to withdraw $300 from the victim’s bank account while Martinez held the victim at gunpoint.
Police say the victim was able to call them after the suspects left the apartment. In an interview with detectives, the 17-year-old woman claimed Martinez was her pimp and that he had directed her to take part in a planned robbery
Martinez denied claims of being the woman’s pimp but did acknowledge her selling her body for sex, records state. Officers located Martinez a few hours later with a stolen Ruger 9mm handgun that was stolen from the victim. Detective say he admitted the gun was stolen and that he had taken part in the robbery.
Alex Martinez, 20, was booked into jail for robbery, kidnapping, theft of a vehicle and theft of a firearm.
