SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A 25-year-old man was booked into jail on suspicion of sexually abusing a young girl after the victim told a teacher she was being raped.

Arresting documents state police were notified by the school after the 11-year-old girl handed her teacher the letter that stated she was being raped and that she had not told anyone because she was scared of what the man would do if she told someone.

The letter also said he abused her when she wanted a phone and now he’s abusing her because she wanted a dog, documents state.

According to the document, the girl said she had been abused ever since first or second grade by Juan Jr. Perez.

The girl was taken to the Children’s Justice Center where a forensic interview was conducted where she said the most recent incident was on Halloween.

In charging documents, the girl told police the man came into her room when she was doing homework and told her to go into the bathroom. When in the bathroom, he made her take off her costume then sexually abused her.

The girl said she tried to get away from him, but he grabbed her wrists and kept her there.

The girl told police this has happened several times when he was pretending to be in the shower but was sexually assaulting her in the bathroom instead.

Perez has been charged with second-degree felony sodomy of a child and second-degree aggravated sexual abuse of a child. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on a $500,000 bail.

Perez does not appear to have any criminal history in Utah.
