SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man is accused of raping a woman he had just met while he was still going through court proceedings on another rape case that happened under similar circumstances.

According to charging documents, Brandon A. Dorado, 33, was charged with one count first-degree-felony rape and one count first-degree felony forcible sodomy after a woman reported to police he raped her the very same day he met her.

Documents state the woman said she met Dorado at her apartment on June 29, 2018. When he started to touch her inappropriately, she told him to stop.

The woman said Dorado continued to try to undress her, but she pushed his hands away. Dorado then forced the woman to perform sexual acts on him before raping her, according to documents.

Documents state the woman was able to push him off her and run outside to call police.

A roommate who was in the home at the same time told police they heard the woman tell Dorado “no” and saying “you’re going too fast”.

A $600,000 arrest warrant was requested for Dorado’s arrest on March 14. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on April 19, the same day his attorney entered a not-guilty plea and requested trial by jury.

Dorado was still going through court proceedings on the first allegation of rape when the second incident occurred.

Court documents show in that case, a 21-year-old woman told police Dorado came over to visit her in June 2017. While watching T.V., Dorado tried to kiss her, but she pushed him away and physically moved away from him. Dorado then got on top of the woman, held her down with her hands above her head with one arm and started undressing her with the other hand.

The woman told police she told him she did not want to have sex with him, but he forced himself on her and raped her while she was on the floor.

The woman said had previously taken a sleeping pill, so she then went to bed. When she woke up, Dorado was on top of her again and she was on her stomach and he had already pulled down her pants and started having sex with her.

Documents state the woman said Dorado texted her the next day and asked her to be his girlfriend as he thought they connected really well.

The woman told Dorado she wasn’t over the fact that he had sex with her without her permission and while she was on sleeping pills.

Court documents state Dorado responded and said he had never done that with anyone who wasn’t his girlfriend and even then it was rare. He then proceeded to tell her “That’s a huge compliment to you cause you turned me on so much.”

He then told the woman it was dumb of him because they had just met but that since they had sex the night before he thought it was okay to do it again.

That case was scheduled for a 2-day jury trial when on March 4, 2019, Dorado accepted a plea deal that reduced his rape charge to a class A misdemeanor sexual battery.

He was sentenced to 365 days in jail, with credit for 60 days already served. The remaining 305 days in jail was suspended with successful completion of 18 months probation. He was also ordered to pay a $2500 fine.

Dorado remains at the Salt Lake County Jail.
