Police looking for suspect after drug-related shooting in Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Police are looking for a suspect after a drug-deal went bad in the parking lot of a Salt Lake City mall Sunday afternoon. 

Lt. Mark Buhman, Salt Lake City Police, said the incident took place at about 1 p.m. at 400 W 100 South in the underground parking lot of the Gateway mall. 

Buhman said the victim had gone to meet up with the suspect to purchase “medical marijuana” when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the man in the head. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The suspect, described only as a black male, stole the victim’s silver Infinity and left the area. It is not known if any charges will be filed against the victim.
