Police: Intruder shot, killed by homeowner identified

UPDATE: The man shot has been identified as 32-year-old Andrew W. Miller.


MURRAY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A homeowner shot a man who entered his home unwelcomed Sunday night, according to the police.  

The incident happened at 7 p.m. near 440 East and 5900 South in Murray according to dispatch. 

Police say the intruder was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. They say they are not sure why the intruder entered the home.

Officials are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting. They say the homeowner is cooperating with police. 

There is no evidence showing that there was an attempted burglary or robbery according to Kenny Bass with the Murray Police Department. He said there is no information indicating at this point that there was an altercation, dispute over money or drugs or that the men knew each other.
