Police chase begins and ends at Jordan Valley Medical Center

Local News

WEST JORDAN (ABC4 News) – A man walked into the emergency room at Jordan Valley Medical Center claiming he had a gun and wanted to kill himself, according to West Jordan police.

The incident ended about 8 minutes later with the man in custody and no injuries to police, hospital staff, or the man in question.

The first call came in at 12:15 from medical staff. When police arrived, they say the man got back into his truck and circled the hospital and surrounding neighborhood for a short time. He drove slowly but would not stop for police. Minutes later, he drove back to the hospital and submitted to police custody and to treatment.

“He did have a weapon in his truck when he came back that we found, but it was in a box in the back it was not accessible to him. He didn’t pose any risk to officers or others but again we just didn’t know his intentions,” said Sgt. J.C. Holt with West Jordan Police Department.

Police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no further danger to the public. The individual, in this case, is receiving treatment.
