SOUTH SALT LAKE (ABC4 News) – South Salt Lake police have identified a man they say robbed a bank Friday afternoon.

Police said Jerry Robert Petty, 57, walked into the Chase Bank at 2610 South State Street Friday afternoon, brandished a handgun and demanded cash.

The bank employee complied with Petty’s demands and he left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police said no one in the bank was hurt during the robbery.

According to police, Petty was last seen leaving the Chase Bank on foot headed southbound on State Street.

Investigators say he is listed on the National Crime Information Center as a fugitive after he reportedly walked away from a federal halfway house on Thursday.  They say he should be considered “armed and dangerous.”

If you have any information about Petty’s whereabouts, you’re asked to call South Salt Lake Police at 801-840-4000.
