Police arrest suspected driver after string of hit-and-run crashes in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY (ABC4 News) – UPDATE: West Valley City police announced they made an arrest in connection with a string of hit-and-run crashes. 

Oliver Byars, 52, was booked into jail on charges of a hit-and-run in an injury crash, open container violation, and driving with no insurance and an expired license. 

Police say Byras was driving when a motor home traveling the wrong way on 3500 South struck four vehicles Monday afternoon.

West Valley City police are looking for the driver of a motor home after a hit-and-run crash Monday afternoon.

Police said a motor home traveling eastbound on 3500 South crossed into the westbound lanes traveling the wrong way. The motorhome struck four vehicles before it went up onto the sidewalk and hit a power pole, police said.

The driver returned the vehicle to the eastbound lanes, stabbed and then got out and ran. Responding officers searched the area, but they did not find the driver.

Police impounded the vehicle and are working to find out who owns it and who was driving.

No one was seriously injured, and police said the impact on traffic was minimal.
