Parents evaluate schools using newly released metrics

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – The State School Board has revamped the way they administer grades to schools this year, rolling out a comprehensive website to house the data. 

The state will no longer grade schools on a curve, but according to a common set of criteria. They’ve also expanded that criteria; instead of only looking at test scores and graduation rates, schools will now report how their lowest 25% are improving, the effectiveness of their English as a second language classes, and the number of students in classes like AP, concurrent enrollment, and technical education pathways.
