Paraglider who crashed in Spanish Fork Canyon rescued

SPANISH FORK, Utah (ABC4 News) – Search and rescue teams responded after a paraglider crashed in Utah County Tuesday. 

Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon said the county search and rescue team is worked with LifeFlight to rescue a 57-year-old man from Provo who crashed near the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon above Escalante‚Äôs Cross.

The man was flying a powered paraglider when Sgt. Cannon said he went down in very steep terrain. 

The helicopter assisted in getting the man out of the area but Sgt. Cannon said the man complained of back pain after he was rescued. 

The man was transported to Utah Valley Hospital by ambulance.
