MURRAY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Organ donor recipients shared their emotional stories of how organ donation saved their lives Saturday.

Tamra Larsen had her heart checked after her mother died from congenital heart disease.

She found out she had cardiomyopathy, a hereditary heart disease. Larsen described the call she got from her doctor saying she only had days to live.

“I just read your lab results and you are at the end of stage heart failure and you won’t survive the weekend,” she was told.

Larsen survived two heart transplants and a kidney transplant. Intermountain medical center helps patients from around the country and performed 147 transplants last year.

There are more than 100 thousand people waiting for an organ transplant, according to officials.
