Opera hopefuls hit the stage for AriaFest

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – A special competition was held Tuesday evening at the Capitol Theatre in downtown Salt Lake City.

Vocal performers auditioned in the AriaFest. Two dozen opera hopefuls hit the stage with their favorite performances ready to impress the judges. It is all part of the Utah Opera’s 40th anniversary celebration.

The winners received a free vocal and opera coaching session with some of Salt Lake City’s best-known names in opera.

 The winners from local vocal schools include:

  • Addison Marlor, University of Utah
  • Aubrey Odle, Brigham Young University
  • Mandi Barrus, University of Utah
