SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Utah)- Police in Salt Lake City say two people were shot Sunday night after a fight broke out during an online purchase exchange.

Witnesses say it happened in the alleyway near the American Towers Condominiums. Police say 24-year-old Cameron Mullahkel was meeting up with a person selling jewelry online.

Police said Mullahkel then robbed the seller at gunpoint after going to a local pawn shop to appraise the item. The seller had a concealed carry permit and also drew his weapon, police said. After a brief foot chase, both men shot each other, according to authorities. Mullahkel was shot in the foot, the victim was shot in the abdomen, Sgt. Brandon Shearer told ABC4 Utah.

Mullahkel was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, illegal drug and weapons possession and tampering with evidence.

Police say this is perfect time to remind the public to meet in a safe, public place when exchanging products from online. Some police department offer “Safe Exchange Zones”.  Be smart when meeting strangers.
