OGDEN, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Ogden Tuesday afternoon.
Ogden Police Department said Ogden detectives were helping Woods Cross detectives locate a robbery suspect linked to several armed robberies throughout Weber and Davis Counties.
Ogden police spotted the stolen vehicle the suspect was believed to be driving at an apartment complex in the 300 block of 7th Street.
Detectives were surveilling the apartment when the saw the suspect get into the vehicle and try to drive away. The officers had “previously deployed a device that flattened the tire on the vehicle.”
The suspect fled with the flat fire and officers pursued him to 12th Street and Depot Drive where they said he struck two citizen vehicles and a law enforcement vehicle.
An Ogden detective reportedly ordered the suspect to get out of the vehicle. Police said that’s when the suspect pointed a gun at the officer.
The officer fired several shots, striking the suspect. The suspect was treated on scene and then taken to McKay Dee Hospital where he later died.

Police identified suspect only as an 18-year-old Hispanic man. They said they are working to notify his family.
“This is an unfortunate loss of a young man and we empathize with his family that we’ll be grieving. We are proud of this officer and the brave actions he took to protect our community. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers,” said Deputy Chief Eric Young with Ogden police.
The Weber County Attorney Critical Incident Team will conduct an independent investigation into the shooting. The officer who shot the man was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
