UTAH COUNTY (News4Utah) – Multiple agencies responded to a wildfire south of Saratoga Springs Thursday evening.
Eagle Mountain City officials said the fire sparked in the foothills of Lake Mountain near Sunrise Drive west of Redwood Road. The initial calls about the fire came in just before 6 p.m.
Saratoga Springs Fire Department, Lehi Fire Department, Utah County Fire Department and Unified Fire Authority all responded to the situation.
Fire officials said 10-15 units were on scene including air support.
Crews were able to significantly contain the fire within a few hours. The fire is estimated to have burned about 90 acres.
Saratoga Springs Fire Chief Jess Campbell said target shooters started the fire.
“Conditions are just such that it would be much better off to wait and do those activities such as shooting particularly in this area until we’ve had some significant moisture,” said Chief Campbell.
Chief Campbell said he appreciated everyone who worked together to stop the fire including the target shooters who were very cooperative and shared key information with crews.
No injuries or structure damage was reported.
