Officers shoot, kill man in Riverton

RIVERTON (News4Utah)- A 26-year-old man was shot and killed by police Monday morning.

It happened near 11779 South Stone Ridge Court in Riverton around 6:40 a.m.

Investigators said the call first came in as a domestic violence-related issue.

When officers responded they said the man was holding a knife to his 56-year-old mother’s throat. From there, officials said there was a confrontation outside of the home where the man was eventually shot.

He died on scene. Monday afternoon the man was identified as Jason Robert Whittle.
