UPDATE: Juab County detectives have interviewed and identified  42-year-old Cody Alexander Young as the person of interest in connection to Sandy woman Jan Pearson-Jenkins.

According to officials, Young has been arrested booked into the Juab County Jail on the following charges: Criminal Homicide 1st Degree Felony. 

The deceased body has been transported to the Utah State Medical Examiners Office where the cause of death and positive identification can be determined, officials said.


UPDATE: Juab County SherrIfs Office has confirmed they have a male person of interest in custody in connection to missing Sandy woman Jan Pearson-Jenkins. They would not say if it is Cody Young, the person last seen with Pearson-Jenkins. 

About 11am Saturday morning, a search team made up of family members of the missing woman and county search crews found a deceased female body off of Silver City rd. The Sherriffs office believe this to be the body of Jan Pearson-Jenkins but are waiting for final confirmation from the Medical Examiner. A family member of the missing woman first spotted the body. 


UPDATE: 10/13/18 : Juab County Sheriff’s office has confirmed a body was found in Eureka during a planned search for Jan Pearson-Jenkins, 64, who went missing during a camping trip.

Brent Pulver, Juab County Undersheriff said they have not yet confirmed if the body is that of the missing woman but they did find the campsite that was believed to be that of Pearson-Jenkins and Cody Young. 

There is no information as to the cause of death, whether it was from the elements or human caused. 

An update will be provided once more information is made available. 


SANDY (News4Utah)- Police in Sandy are asking the public for help after a woman and man have not been seen since they left to go camping last week.

Investigators say Jan Pearson-Jenkins, 64 and Cody Young, in his 40s, told family they were going camping in the area of Silver City/Eureka, Utah on Thursday, October 4th. 

The next day, police say Young told Pearson-Jenkins’ family that he had left her behind after an argument. He said she did not have her purse and cell phone and was not dressed for the cold weather.

Officials in Juab County have checked the area, but say there was no sign of her.

Young has also disappeared.

Police say Pearson-Jenkins is a white female about 5’4″. She is about 130 pounds with shorty grayish-brown hair. She has a slight hunch in her walk and two 10-inch scars on her right arm.

Police say Cody Young may be driving this van.

Young is described as a white man with a slender build and is about 5’5″. Police say he has a little facial hair and wears his golden-brown hair in a ponytail. They say he wears glasses and is believed to be driving an older dark-colored van with Arizona plate: CGA3392.
