SPRINGVILLE (ABC4 News) – A man was arrested on assault charges after police say he charged a restaurant employee with knife.

Officers responded to a restaurant at 442 South 1750 West Tuesday on the report of a man wielding a knife.

Witnesses told police the suspect, Clinton Camp, 50, was inside the restaurant approaching customers, children and staff in an “aggressive and upset manner that was causing concern for both customers and staff.”

According to a probable cause statement, an employee at the restaurant approached Camp and asked him to leave. That’s when, documents state, Camp pulled a knife from his pocket and charged the employee.

An off-duty corrections officer witnessed the incident and was able to take physical control of Camp by taking him to the ground and restraining him until officers could arrive.

Camp was eventually taken into custody. He faces charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
