Local News

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – The Best Friends Animal Society has produced a report card which offers a detailed look at the progress and areas of focus for the statewide ‘No-Kill Utah’ initiative.

57 municipal shelters and animal welfare organizations joined together in 2014 to form the NKUT initiative. The main goal of the initiative is for everyone to work together to end the killing of dogs and cats in Utah shelters, and to make Utah a no-kill state by the year 2020.

The Best Friends Animal Society is leading the initiative, and on Monday’s Midday, spokeswoman Temma Martin, stopped by to talk about the vital steps to saving the lives of dogs and cats in our state, as well as, changes being made to the ‘No-Kill Utah’ initiative.
