ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC4 News)- Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George says its brand-new, state-of-the-art Women and Newborn Center inside the hospital’s north tower opens Tuesday.
Intermountain says it has utilized the latest technology, incorporated friendly, pleasing design aesthetics and worked to make sure it’s as close to a home-like environment as possible.
The center moving from a facility that traces its roots back to 1975 and is a mile-and-a-half away. If you think you might go into labor over the next 12 hours or so, where you go to have the baby depends on the exact time says Birthing Center Director Tiffany Hanson.
“Optimally for those patients who go into labor before 6 o’clock in the morning, we will still direct them and want them to report to the 400 East Campus where we can assess them, evaluate them and make sure they’re OK.”
But any time after 6 a.m. Tuesday, you head directly for the new center off River Road. Hanson says there’s more space for family members to be with mom and baby in the new facility, as well as more beds for patients in labor.
