New Director of Natural Resources appointed

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – Governor Gary Herbert appointed Brian Steed as the new executive director of the Utah Department of Natural Resources following an announcement that current director Mike Styler will retire. 

Steed currently serves as deputy director over policy and programs for the Bureau of Land Management and has held several roles in the state including deputy attorney for Iron County and as Rep. Chris Stewart’s Chief of Staff. 

“Brian is not only qualified for this position, he is also passionate about implementing best management practices for Utah’s natural resources” — Gov. Hebert 

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the state Senate, should Steed be confirmed, the service will commence when Mike Styler retires on June 1.
